Handover of G20 Expert Panel Report

During South Africa's G20 presidency, former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel presented the G20 Africa Expert Panel report to President Cyril Ramaphosa at a handover ceremony. Chaired by Manuel and comprising 26 experts from across Africa and pan-African institutions, the report offers evidence-based recommendations to amplify Africa's voice in G20 finance discussions, addressing industrialization, affordable development finance, policy stability, transparent credit ratings, Basel III challenges, debt transparency, a borrowers' club, and leveraging IMF gold reserves for debt-distressed nations. Ramaphosa praised the transformative proposals, linking them to inclusive mining initiatives, and committed to advancing them with African leaders and at the G20 summit to foster equitable global economic reforms.
