Women20 summit to gather global leaders in Joburg to mainstream gender in G20 talks

Johannesburg will host the Women20 South Africa (W20SA) summit from October 12-14 at the Vivari Hotel and Spa, gathering global women leaders, policymakers, and civil society representatives from over 20 countries to prioritize gender equality and women's economic empowerment in G20 discussions under South Africa's presidency. The event, themed 'Women in Solidarity Towards a Just Future,' features high-level sessions on the climate-care nexus, modern slavery survivors, positive masculinities, a CEOs' breakfast at the JSE, and a 10-year W20 review, with keynotes from Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke and opening by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi. A communique from the deliberations will be submitted to South African authorities for G20 leaders, advancing UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality as a catalyst for sustainable development.
