International Women’s Forum echoes work of G20 agenda: Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa urged women leaders at the International Women’s Forum conference in Cape Town, attended by 800 participants from 30 countries, to shape responses to shifting geopolitics, tested multilateralism, and threats to gender equality gains. He highlighted South Africa's G20 inequality report, which reveals that the top 1% captured 41% of new wealth from 2000-2024 while the poorest half got just 1%, exacerbating barriers to women's education, leadership, and pay equity, alongside recent ministerial pledges for financial inclusion, care economy support, and ending gender-based violence. The conference, themed 'Ubuntu: I am because we are,' aims to influence global policies for inclusive growth and women's empowerment.
